Portsmouth, RI - James S. Henshaw, 88, of 7 Donna Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, March 10, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Ruth Ellen Sowden Henshaw. Born in Fall River, MA, on August 20, 1917, he was the son of the late John E. and Maryann May Henshaw.Mr. Henshaw grew up on Cozzens Court in Newport. He joined the Army during World War II and served in France and England. After the war he began work as a plumber on the Newport Naval Base. After retirement he worked for Salve Regina College. He enjoyed camping and traveling to Florida every winter with his wife in their RV. He was a member of the National Good Sams Club and Sea Side Sams. He was also one of the founding members of the Viking Riders Motorcycle Club. With this group, he and his wife enjoyed riding throughout the New England states. He is survived by his wife Ruth E. Henshaw of Portsmouth, RI, and eleven nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Almy Sisson and Elsie Tripp. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 20, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
