James W.B. Irons

James W.B. Irons, 72, of Newport died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Newport Hospital.Born on October 10, 1943, in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late James F. and Frances E. (Spence) Irons. Mr. Irons worked at the Newport Creamery from 1962 to 1972, before beginning a 32 year career with the Newport Electric Light Company, now National Grid. In his spare time, he enjoyed the shoreline, fishing in his youth, playing cribbage, and woodworking. He enjoyed his Sunday morning rendezvous with his "Breakfast Club", was a fan of the New England Patriots and loved nothing more than walking with his dog, Gracie. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.He is survived by his brothers, Ronald T. Irons of Guilford, CT, and Scott K. Irons of Newport, RI, and his longtime companions' children, Kristen, Susan, Lee and Parys.He was the brother of the late Carl W. Irons and companion of the late Louise Partington.His service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 3:00PM, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
