Jane A. Chaffee

Middletown, RI - Jane Ashworth Chaffee, 93, of John Clarke Retirement Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of Paradise Avenue, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Albert Ashworth and the late James Chaffee. Born in Fall River, MA on March 30, 1914, Mrs. Chaffee worked as a legal secretary for many years in New York City, later moved to Wassaic, NY, and finally returned to her former home in Middletown. She enjoyed bird carving, baking, knitting and gardening, although she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Regan and her husband John of West Hartford, CT, her sister Jean Ashworth of Tiverton, RI, and her grandchildren, Sheryl Fennell and her husband Tim of Holliston, MA and Christine Regan and her husband Tom Erickson of Merrimack, NH. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 21, 2007, from 7-9pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with family remembrances at 7:30pm. Burial will be private.
