Jane Akers Rigdway

December 25, 1917 — October 6, 2011

Jane Akers Ridgway, daughter of famed architect John Russell Pope and Sadie Jones Pope died in Palm Beach, Florida October 6, 2011. She was married to Anthony B. Akers, a P.T. boats war hero who later consulted on the Hollywood film They Were Expendable. Mr. Akers also ran for Congress in New Yorks Silk Stocking District and later was Ambassador to New Zealand. Mr. Akers died in 1976. Mrs. Akers subsequently married Thomas Ridgway, Jr. who was a direct descendant of Mad Anthony Wayne. Mr. Ridgway died in 2005. Mrs. Ridgway had homes in New York City, Newport, Rhode Island and Palm Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her daughter Andra Akers and is survived by her daughter Ellery Akers of San Francisco, California. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1:00 pm in Saint Columba Berkley Memorial Chapel, 55 Vaucluse Ave, Middletown, Rhode Island.
