Jane L. Floyd

Jane L. Floyd, 60, of Wolcott Avenue, Middletown, RI, died on Friday, August 30, 2013 at home with her family at her side.Born in Melrose, MA on April 2, 1953, she is the daughter of Anne (Getchell) Floyd of Newport, RI and the late Culver J. Floyd.Jane ran her own computer graphic design business for 6 years and was previously employed at McLaughlin Research as a Senior Computer Graphic Illustrator for 26 years.She moved to Middletown, RI at the age of 6 and grew up on Baldwin Road. Jane was a 1971 graduate of Middletown High School.An avid boater and sailor, she had been a member of Newport Yacht Club. Jane enjoyed her time on the water, whether racing sailboats, operating a launch for Oldport Marine or taking friends for cruises on her boat.In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Lynne Spingler and her husband Henry of Newport, RI; her brother, Jay C. Floyd of Wakefield, RI; and her beloved dog, Reesy.A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the home of her mother, Anne Floyd, at 108 Kay Blvd., Newport, RI.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in Jane's name, may be made to the Hospice Regatta, c/o Home Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
