Jane M. Perreault

Jane M. (Santerre) Perreault, died peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. "Tootsie" Perreault. She was born in Canada and moved to the United States and lived in Fall River, MA, where she worked many years in the Mills. She moved to Portsmouth in 1958, she started bartending, breaking the bartender barrier for women of her time and was considered a pioneer. She retired at age 80 after many enjoyable years of work. Her strong will enabled her to live her life to the fullest. She enjoyed being near to the ocean, going for rides, playing cards, and spending time with close friends and family. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Vanderhoof of Portsmouth, Judith Angel of Fall River, and Jeanne Bauman of Georgia. Jane also leaves behind her close caring like daughter Dee Dee and five generations of grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend Eunice Lemieux. She was preceded in death by her brother George "Buster" Santerre and her sister Augustine "Betty" Santerre. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 10:00am in the Connors Funeral Home.
