Jane Mary Clarke

Jane Mary Clarke, 72, recently of Tiverton and formerly of Cedar Ave, Portsmouth, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center of Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late William A. Clarke Sr.Born on November 26, 1942 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Warren Sullivan and Grace (Flanders) Tuttle. Jane was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center, and the USAW of RI Parade Team. She was also active with Portsmouth Pop Warner Cheerleaders, was an assistant coach for Portsmouth Little League Softball, and assisted with the Portsmouth 350 Celebration and Parade. Mrs. Clarke worked for many years as a dietary aide at Newport Hospital, and later as a clerk in area retails stores.She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie St. Laurent and her husband David of Portsmouth and Joan M. Viveiros, her son Stephen Clarke and his wife Jeannette of Tiverton, and her honorary daughter Carisa Daniels of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Grace L. Homen of Newport, and Barbara A. Fales of Antrim, NH and two brothers, Michael A. Tuttle of Westborough, MA, and Peter A. Tuttle of Newport. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Rachel, William, Stephen Jr., Brandon, Mary, Jude, Evin, Lillee-Grace, and Zoe-Jane, and one great granddaughter Anna.She was preceded in death by her son William A. Clarke Jr. and her brother William E. Tuttle.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 9am from the Memorial Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
