Janet Culipher Durand

Janet L. Culipher Durand, 65, of Newport died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Newport Hospital of Newport, RI. She was born on born May 13, 1947 in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Perry) Culipher. Janet grew up in Middletown. She was a loving and loyal mother, who was committed to the welfare of her daughters and was dedicated to all of her extended family. Janet was extremely artistic and skilled with all crafts including cooking, painting, and ceramics and found joy when others found enjoyment in her work. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Church.She is survived by her daughters, Lee Johns of Newport, RI and Tina St. Pierre of Middletown, RI and her brother James Culipher of Middletown, RI, her sister Karen Benvenuto of Middletown, RI and her grandchildren, Lee Ann Marie and Nicholas Allen Johns.At the request of the family, calling hours are omitted. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 11:00am, in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be private.
