Jaqueline F. Segerson

Jaqueline F. Segerson, 76, of Middletown, RI passed away January 6, 2016 at Newport Hospital.Jackie was born on October 18, 1939 in Newport, RI. She was the daughter of the late John Francis Segerson and the late Mary (Martin) Segerson, and the sister of the late Marilyn "V. Segerson.She was the niece of Mary Segerson of Newport, RI and Raymond and Beverly Segerson of Middletown, RI.She is survived by her sister Elaine Segerson Schwartz of Portsmouth, RI, as well as nieces and nephews. Jackie received her Bachelor of Arts at Salve Regina College in 1960 and subsequently received her Masters degree from Rhode Island College. She taught math at Thompson Junior High School in Newport, RI from 1960 until she retired in 1990. She had many dear friends among the teachers and faculty. Jackie was an avid tennis player and traveler, visiting many places in the US and abroad. She loved to read and found great pleasure in caring for animals, not only her own, but even the neighborhood stray cats. A Memorial service will be held on Monday January 11, 2016, at 9am in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
