Jean B. Tierney

Newport, RI - Jean B. (Holm) Tierney, 98, of St. Clare Home, Newport, RI, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Clare Home, just a few days before her 99th birthday.She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Tierney, who died at age 50. Born in Newport, RI on August 18, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Edith (Babcock) Holm.Jean grew up in Newport and attended the Newport Hospital School of Nursing and RI School of Design. As a young woman, she worked at the Weisman's Art Shop on Bellevue. She was also one of the original residents of the AHEPA apartments on Girard Ave. Mrs. Tierney loved to knit and travel. Over the last few years, she became very close to her extended family at St. Clare Home. She is survived by her children, Michael Tierney and his wife Alexandra of Fredericksburg, VA, Timothy Tierney of Fall River, MA and Marilyn Teves of Middletown, RI, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Jean Clinton.
