Newport, RI - Jean-Francois Aubois, 66, of 86 Washington Street Newport, died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. Born in Amiens, France on December 15, 1938, he was the son of Jean Aubois and Suzanne Welte Aubois. Mr. Aubois came to this Country in 1949 from France. He graduated from the former De La Salle Academy of Newport, RI. Jean then returned to France to serve in the French Army serving and fighting during the Algerian War in the late 1950s. After being discharged he then became an interpreter for the US Army in France at the NATO headquarters. Upon returning to the USA in the late 1960s he earned his BA degree from Roger Williams College. He had lived and worked in Fall River for several years. Mr. Aubois was a avid reader of history and a great admirer of General Charles De Gaule. Mr. Aubois was a Health Aide with various nursing homes in the Newport area. He is survived by his mother Suzanne Aubois of Newport, RI, a brother Vincent P. Aubois of Jamestown, RI, his sister Marie Coburn-Gill of West Springfield, MA, three nieces Brigitte Buxton of Burrillville, RI, Suzanne Aubois of Jamestown, RI, and Sara Aubois of Newport, RI, three nephews Thomas Coburn of West Springfield, MA, John Coburn of Jersey City, NJ, and Edward Coburn of Somerville, MA, and six grand nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Monday, December 27, 20204, at 9:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Harbor House Chapel, Washington Street, Newport.Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery in Jamestown.
