- Jean Inglis Bull Braman, 96, of 437 Paradise Avenue Middletown, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at home.She was the wife of the late Roger P. Braman of the former Packer Braman Insurance Co. Born in Springfield, MA on April 5, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Harcourt Wesson Bull and Edith Brooks Bull, granddaughter of the late Dr. Mrs. Lawton S. Brooks and the great granddaughter of the late D. B. Wesson of Smith Wesson Industries.Mrs. Braman was a 1928 graduate of Boston School of Occupational Therapy, the Choate School in Boston, Massachusetts and the Holmquist School in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Braman and her husband were noted for their civic support and extraordinary philanthropy. They had been extremely generous donors to many local charities, in particular, they were special benefactors of the of the Newport Hospital, the Newport County YMCA, Channing Memorial Church, The United Way of Newport County, Child and Family Services of Newport County and Dartmouth College. She was an active member of many local organizations, including the Norman Bird Sanctuary, the Newport Historical Society, Redwood Library, and the Newport Hospital Auxillary. She was a past member of the Board of Nina Lynette Home and served as a member of the Middletown School committe during the 1960s. With her granddaughter, Alison, she operated and owned the Willow Valley Horse Farm in Richmond, RI.She is survived by her son Roger P. Braman Jr., of Middletown, RI, two daughters Edith L. Braman of Middletown, RI and Mary B. Hoffman of Wyoming RI, her sister Barbara L. Palmer of Longmeadow, MA, and two granddaugthers Alison M. Ward and Amy H. Friel both of Richmond, RI. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002, at 4:30PM, in Channing Memorial Church, 135 Pelham Street, Newport. Burial will be private.
