Portsmouth, RI - Jean L. (Hill) Minese, 89, of Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, RI with family be her side.She was the wife of the late August John Minese, Jr. Born in Brockton, MA on July 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles Dwight and Victoria (Bean) Hill and spent her youth in Easton, MA. She graduated from Oliver Ames High School class of 1944 where she played on the field hockey team and also attended secretarial school in Boston. It was on the bus home from night school that she met the love of her life, Gus, whom she was married to for sixty five years.Mrs. Minese attended St. Anthony's Church. She was a former employee of the Portsmouth School Department. When she wasn't helping her husband run their vegetable farm she loved planning family get togethers where everyone enjoyed her homemade meals and baked goods. She enjoyed doing puzzles, knitting, sewing or just relaxing under the shady tree in her back yard and watching the boats sail down the Sakonnet River. She is survived by her sons Ronald F. Minese, Michael A. Minese, David J. Minese and his wife Laura, and Gerald A. Minese all of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Michelle Jean Medeiros and her husband Ronald of Little Compton, RI, her grandchildren, Thomas A. Fagan, Jr., Lisa Fagan, Jennifer M. Minese, Michael Minese, Melissa Medeiros, Katherine Minese, Mathew David Minese and Nathan Minese, and her great grandchildren, Kayla Fagan, Jacob Fagan, Tyler Fagan, Matthew Aguiar, Christopher Matley, and Eylah Matley.She was the mother of the late Marie Ann Fagan, the grandmother of the late Christopher "Hero" Medeiros and the sister of the late Clayton Sylvester Hill and Ruth Frances Hill. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 10AM in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
