Jeanne M. Brown, formerly of Atlantic St., Newport, RI, and more recently Blenheim-Newport and the Grand Islander, Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014. She was the wife of the late Stanley P. Brown who passed in 2006.Born in Newport, RI on August 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Moulton and Elsie (Duby) Friend. Jeanne was a 1936 graduate of Rogers High School. She was a long-time member of Trinity Church and a former member of the Trinity Church Altar Society. She was a former member and past president of the Newport County Council of Republican Women as well as the Newport Republican City Committee. Jeanne was a member, and enjoyed many years of activities, at the Edward King house Senior Center. She was a gifted knitter and needle crafter .But most important to her, was her family, in which she took great pride. She loved any time that brought everyone together, but most especially Christmas. She is survived by her children: Jane A. Roach and her husband Ted Roach, of Newport, RI; Mary B. Sinnott and her husband Jim Sinnott, of Middletown, RI; Stanley P. Brown, Jr. and his wife Elaine Brown, of Portsmouth, RI; Frederick W. Brown and his wife Linda Brown, of Jamestown, RI; Christine E. Pimentel and her husband Chris Pimentel of Portsmouth, RI, and Robert A. Brown, and his wife Trisha Brown, of Newport, RI. She also leaves her 13 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud, following their accomplishments and activities. She was predeceased in death by her granddaughter Colleen Dee Sinnott.She also leaves her brother, Thomas W. Friend, of Newport, RI, and was the sister of the late Dorothy M. Sacrey, and the late John M. Friend A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, Newport, RI, on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 9:00 am.Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Trinity Church Altar Society, One Queen Anne Square, Newport, RI 02840, or to the Edward King House Senior Center, 35 King Street, Newport, RI 02840.
