Jeannette Coute

Jeannette Coute, 83, formerly of the Grand Islander Health Care Center, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Coute.Born in Fall River, MA on March 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Mary L. (Guilmette) Janeiro.Mrs. Coute worked as a domestic for various notables to include Doris Duke, the Firestone Estate, and several others in Newport. Mrs. Coute enjoyed providing warm and personable hospitality to anyone who visited her home. She was known as an excellent cook by her family and friends, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her son, Joe Coute and his wife Phyllis who reside in Benicia, CA; her three grandchildren, Kristen, Jennifer and Lindsay; and her eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Antone Janeiro, of Swansea MA, sisters, Margaret Tessier of Newport, Helen Askew of Fall River, MA, and Dorothy Tavares of Little Compton RI, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was also sister to the late Marie Alice Coute, Ida Bilodeau, Rosaline Correiro, Florence DuPre, and William Guilmette.A memorial service and visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 9-10 am with a funeral service at 10 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway in Newport, RI.
