Jesse Brown

Portsmouth, RI - Jesse Brown, 96, of 226 Turnpike Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Mary Rezendez Brown. Born in Portsmouth, RI on December 24, 1914, he was the son of the late Augustus T. and Rita Decosta Brown.Mr. Brown attended Thibodeau Business College in Fall River. He was a truck driver for 35 years on the Newport Naval Base. He was a member of the VFW and a communicant of St. Anthonys Church. Mr. Brown was an avid golfer, loved bowling and loved watching and playing baseball. He is survived by his brother Anthony Brown of Portsmouth, RI, and his sister Cecelia Ginger Brown of Portsmouth, RI.He was the father of the late Richard Brown and the brother of the late Louis Brown, Mary B. Spooner and Olympia B. Botelho.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011, from 4-6pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.His funeral will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown
