Portsmouth, RI - Jesse James Pedro, 87, resident of Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, RI, formerly of 15 Cedar Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, and 427 Wapping Road, Portsmouth, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of Ada Howarth Pedro.Born in Middletown, RI on January 13, 1921, he was the son of the late Manuel and Teresa Medeiros Pedro.Mr. Pedro was a construction worker his whole life, retiring in 1972. He also worked as head of maintenance at Chartier Real Estate in Newport, RI for 20 years before becoming self-employed. Jesse was a member of the Sakonnet Sportsman Club. He enjoyed boating and was an avid fisherman, woodworker and furniture builder. Jesse loved the guitar and spent winters in Melbourne, FL. He was a Veteran of WWII serving as a Corporal in the Army Air Force.Besides his wife of 65 years, he is survived by daughters Barbara Miguel and her husband Paul of Tiverton, RI and Elizabeth Pedro of Portsmouth, RI, his grandchildren Michael Miguel and his wife Jennifer Smith of Somerset, MA and Jennifer Miguel of Tiverton, RI, his great grandchildren Ethan Miguel and Jonathan Miguel of Somerset, MA, several nieces and nephews, his devoted dog Webster and many friends in the Island Park area.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008, from 6-8 in the funeral home.His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at 10:00 am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in the Howarth Family plot at Pocassett Hill Cemetery in Tiverton.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Charity of ones choice.
