Joan C. Silvia

Joan C. Silvia, age 75, of Portsmouth died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at their winter home in Miami Beach, Fl. She was the wife of Leonard J. Silvia. Mrs. Silvia was born in Newport, RI, daughter of the late Curtis A. and Alberta (Largess) Sieben. She leaves her children Wayne L. Silvia of Portsmouth and his partner Heather Baker, Bruce D. Silvia and his wife Nicole of Tiverton, Jeffrey M. Silvia and his wife Diane of Portsmouth, Holly E. Silva and her husband Gordon of Portsmouth, Tracey M. Furtado and her husband Francis of Portsmouth. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua Silva and his fianc Kelly Roussel, Cole Silvia, Allison Silvia, Alexandra, Silvia and Alyssa Silvia as well as her sisters in law Yetta Sieben and Jacqueline Costic. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and friends.Joan was the grandmother of the late Christopher Silvia and sister of the late Richard F. Sieben, Ernest Sieben, Albert Sieben, Lawrence Sieben, Lois Kaya, Lorraine Brown Beverly Planter and sister in law of the late Ronald CosticJoan (Joanna) enjoyed spending time with Lenny at their vacation home in Miami Beach, Florida to escape the cold New England winters. She cherished the time spent with loved ones. She enjoyed going for walks in the morning when she could and loved watching all her shows, listening to music as well as crocheting and solving her crossword puzzles and most of all laughing.Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015, from 8:30 - 9:30 am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthony's Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.Burial will be Private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
