Portsmouth, RI ? Joan McCoomb Dickinson, 79, of 512 Boyds Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River, MA. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Dickinson, to whom she was married for 54 years. Born in Fall River, MA, on December 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late John and Celeste Byron McCoomb. Mrs. Dickinson was a 1946 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River, MA and kept frequent lunch dates with her high school girlfriends for years. She moved to Portsmouth in 1960 and helped her husband manage Manchester?s Seafood during the late 1980?s. She was a communicant of St. Anthony?s Church. Mrs. Dickinson?s life?s joy was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit family. She also enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. She is survived by her daughters Dayle Dickinson of Hull, MA, Joan Dickinson Day of Torrance, CA, Amy Chamard of Portsmouth, RI, Martha Richardson of Annapolis, MD and Hope Dickinson of Quincy, MA, her grandchildren Meredith O?Hayre and Patrick O?Hayre of Hull, MA, Emily Day, Laura Day, and Gregory Day all of Torrance, CA, Mary Chamard, Zachary Chamard, and Madeline Chamard all of Portsmouth, RI, Michael Richardson, Jr., Jane Richardson, Abigail Richardson and Claire Richardson all of Annapolis, MD, her great grandson Timothy O?Hayre of Hull, MA, her brother John McCoomb of South Berwick, ME, her sister Virginia Roussell of Assonet, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Helen Reid of Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 12, 2007, at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fall River.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2007, from 3-6, in the Connors Funeral Home.
