Joan Elizabeth Desrosiers

Portsmouth, RI - Joan E. Desrosiers, 79, of Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Fall River, MA, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Leo Napolean Desrosiers. Born in Fall River, MA on March 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late David A. and Sarah Kelley McCarthy. Joan was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Fall River, MA and began work at New England Telephone as a young woman. She and her husband Leo were married 50 years when he passed away in 2000.She is survived by her daughter Susan E. Desrosiers of Portsmouth, RI, and grandson Daniel Desrosiers and his fiance Lindsey of Middletown, a niece Beth Ethier of Portsmouth, and a nephew David Alexander of Albany, NY. She was preceded in death by a sister Ann Alexander and a brother David J McCarthy. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fall River.
