Joan Marie (Sawyer) Goodrow, 48, of Newport died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at home. Born May 14, 1964 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of James E. and Nancy E. (Michaud) Sawyer. Besides her parents, she is survived by her children, Walter Bennett, Jr. of Bristol, RI, Stephanie Sawyer of Warwick, RI, and Skye Bennett of Fall River, MA, her brother James Edward Sawyer Jr. of Tiverton, RI, her sisters Elizabeth Sawyer and Jennifer Sawyer of Middletown, RI and her grandchildren, Nathaniel Adam Peloquin, Jr., Roman Ocean Bennett, Phoenix James Bennett, Kahmayah Rhea Bennett and Alana Lyann Bennett and her niece Chloe EA. Sawyer and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was the grandmother of the late Gabrielle Sawyer. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 10 AM in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport, RI.
