John A. Stroup

Newport, RI - John A. Stroup, 33, of 3 Shimoda Way, Newport, RI, died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Newport Hospital. Born in Newport, RI on August 28, 1974, he was the son of Harry Stroup, Jr. of Middletown and Susan Aguiar Stroup of Newport. In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his former wife Alicia Blackwell of Magnolia, TX, his two sons John Stroup and Mason Stroup both of Magnolia, TX, his brothers David Stroup of Middletown, RI, Harry ?Chip? Stroup of Frisco, TX, Kevin Stroup of Providence, RI, and his sisters Suzanne Stroup Deasley of Cranston, RI, Shirelle Stroup of Newport, RI, Starr Stroup of Fall River, MA, and his step-sister Suzanne Schmidt Johnson of San Diego, CA, as well as his grandmother Shirley Cochran of Newport, RI and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Frank E. Aguiar.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, from 4-8:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. A prayer service will be held at 7:45pm during the calling hours. A spaghetti dinner benefit will be held in his honor on Sunday, November 18 from 1-4:00pm at the VFW Hall, 52 Underwood Lane, Middletown.
