Bristol, RI - John Anthony Miranda Jr., 57, of 661 Metacom Avenue, Unit 7 Bristol, RI, formerly of 3 Charles Street Bristol, RI died Monday, March 7, 2005 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center Providence, RI.He was the husband of Joanne Pereira Miranda. Born in Acushnet, MA on December 22, 1947, he was the son of the late John A. Miranda Sr. and Theresa DeSouza Miranda.Mr. Miranda was a self-employed shell fisherman for over 30 years using a ?bull rake,? from his boat The Joanne. John had served in the US Army having done two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the D.A.V. of America, The Rhode Island Shell Fisherman?s Association, Ocean State Shell Fisherman?s Association and was an active member of the Grace Gospel Church in Swansea, MA. He loved being with his children, grandchildren friends and always lending a hand when it was needed. Besides his wife of 24 years he is survived by his three children John A. Miranda III of Bristol, RI, Monique Medeiros of Little Compton, RI and Michele Dugan of Bristol, RI, three brothers William Miranda, James Miranda and Michael Miranda all of Tiverton, RI, four sisters Sandra Cahoon and Sherri Rego both of Tiverton, RI, Albina Flores of Little Compton, RI and Theresa Miranda of Warren, RI, six grandchildren John A Miranda IV and Keith Marshall both of Bristol, RI, Chelsea Medeiros, Jessica Medeiros and Myranda Cory all of Little Compton, RI and Amanda Dugan of Bristol, RI. His funeral will be held Friday, March 11, 2005 at 7:30pm at The Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.Donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 50 Maude Street, Providence, RI 02908.
