John Calvin Gazaway

Newport, RI - John C. Gazaway, 79, of 66 Girard Avenue Newport, formerly of 62 Hickory Lane, Narrowsburg, NY, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Deborah Kohn Gazaway. Born in Carneys Point, NJ on March 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Gene and Alice Davis Gazaway.Mr. Gazaway served in the United States Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons John C. Gazaway, Jr. of Delran, NJ, and Jay C. Gazaway of Alma, KA, his stepson Patrick J. Heaney of Newport, RI, his daughter Judith C. Cordrey of Barnegat, NJ, four brothers, Mark M. Gazaway of Asheboro, NC, David L. Gazaway, Rev. Daniel Gazaway, and Paul Gazaway all of Concord, NH, his sister Faith Trollinger of Star, NC, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be private.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
