John Dutton King

Stoneham, MA - John Dutton King, 84, of 200 Leisure Lane, Stoneham, formerly of 11 Sylvia Road, North Reading, MA, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Shirley C. Vidito King of Stoneham, MA. Born in Wakefield, MA on September 18, 1919, he was the son of the late Jabez R. and Fanny Kearley King.Mr. King served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, as Chief Petty Officer in Ceylon India. He owned and operated his own pool company, retiring in 1987. Mr. King was a member of Quannapowitt Yacht Club in Wakefield, MA, where he held several positions including Commodore. Besides his wife of 54 years he is survived by two sons Barry King of Waldoboro, ME, and Philip King of Ipswich, MA, two daughters Karen Toscano of Newport, RI, and Meredith Mayo of North Andover, MA, and seven grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Edmund R. King, Ralph H. King, William W. King, Melvin King, Miriam Margeson and Velma Wilkinson.A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at 12:00PM in the Quannapowitt Yacht Club, Linda Road, Wakefield, MA. Donations in his memory may be made to the Q.Y.C. Scholarship fund in honor of John D. King, Citizens Scholarship Fund of Wakefield, P.O. Box 321, Wakefield, MA 01880.
