John F. Bigbee

Portsmouth, RI - John Frederick ?Fred? Bigbee, 57, of 293 Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at home. He was the loving husband of Marsha Lynn Maynard Bigbee. Born in Munich, Germany, on October 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Frederick John and Elisabeth Buchner Bigbee Maier. Mr. Bigbee graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and served in the United States Army 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam. He worked for Blue Cross/ Blue Shield for 20 years and 3 years for Perot Systems. He enjoyed skiing and hiking in Switzerland where his mother lives, and sailing with his friend Dave Saunders on Narragansett Bay. Fred, a kind hearted man, whose family meant everything to him will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Shawn M. Bigbee of San Diego, CA, and Daniel F. Bigbee of Middletown, RI, two daughters, Tracey L. Smith of Escondido CA, and Kelly A. Bigbee of Portsmouth, RI, his mother, Elisabeth Buchner Bigbee Maier of Switzerland, his step father, Harald Maier of Switzerland, a brother, Michael H. Bigbee of Plano, TX, a sister, Gabriela Meyer of Switzerland, and two granddaughters, Aislin Bigbee of San Diego, CA, and Vanessa Lyanne Smith of Escondido CA and his mother in-law Shirley Maynard of Portsmouth, RI. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 11:00a.m, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006, from 9:00 - 11:00a.m., in the Connors Funeral Home.
