John F. Caraway

Middletown, RI - John F. Caraway, 85, of Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Newport Hospital, with his wife at his bedside. He was the husband of Mary E. Silvia Caraway. Born in Mitchel, IN on June 23, 1922, he was the son of the late George and Anna Truman Caraway. Mr. Caraway worked for the Town and State of Middletown, RI, as a laborer and also for Newport Roofing. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Caraway was a member of the V.F.W. and a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. John loved hunting and fishing with his son. Besides his wife of 63 years, he leaves his sister-in-law Helen Pimental of Middletown, RI, his granddaughter of Cleveland, GA and three great grandchildren. He was the father of the late John J. Caraway. His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 4-8 in the funeral home.
