John Foster Barton

Newport, - John Foster Barton, 80, of 49 Third Street Newport, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at home.He was the husband of Ruth Bouchard Barton. Born in Newport, RI on November 1, 1922, he was the son of the late John F. and Anna D. Fox Barton. Mr. Barton was a Sgt. in the Marine Corp during WWII. He was an Inventory Controler with General Electric for 37 years retiring in 1984. He was a past exalter ruler of the Newport Lodge of Elks and was a past exalter deputy ruler of the Rhode Island East Elks. He was a member of St. Josephs Church. Besides his wife he leaves 3 daughters Ruth Ann Morrow of Panama City, FL,Paula Helyer of Meridan, CT and Carla B. Brownell of Newport, RI,He was father of the late Jane Barton, who died in 1976. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday April 2, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM inSt. Josephs Church Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
