John Francis Kane

John Francis Kane, 83, of Belmont Drive passed away peacefully at home with his family after a long illness on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Caplan, his son, William and daughter-in-law Pamela Kane of Portsmouth and his daughter, Sandra and son-in-law William B. Rouse of Dunwoody, GA. He has four grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Kane of Portsmouth and Rebecca and Will Rouse of Dunwoody, GA. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe and received a Purple Heart. A 1938 graduate of Rogers High School, he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Univeristy of Rhode Island. He was a past member of the North End Club and President of the Portsmouth Little League. Mr. Kane was a supervisor at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center retiring in 1976 and then worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation until his full retirement in 1982. Services will be private.
