John Friendly Amidon

Providence, - John Friendly Amidon, 73, of Park View Nursing Home Providence, formerly of Middletown, Rhode Island, died Friday, September 27, 2002 at V A Medical Center Providence, RI. Born in Buffalo, NY on December 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Friendly Warren and Clara Bush Amidon.Mr. Amidon was in the United States Navy, during WWII and Korea. He was a Retired Chief storekeeper with the United States Navy, retiring in 1969 after 20years. Mr. Amidon was a member of the DAV Chapter 7, the Middletown VFW and the Fleet Reserve Branch 19 of Newport. He is survived by son his James Edward Amidon of Middletown, RI, three daughters Marsha Gardner of Tuscaloosa, AL, Carol Woods of Buffalo, NY, and Lynne Amidon of London, England, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.He was the father of the late John Friendly Amidon Jr. and Rachel Ann Amidon, and the brother of the late Phyllis Falk. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 7, 2002, at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.Donations in his memory may be made to the DAV, 380 Westminster Street, Providence, RI, 02903.
