John J. Medeiros

Portsmouth, RI - John J. Medeiros, 87, of 33 Freeborn Street, Portsmouth, RI, died on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Laura Medeiros, of Portsmouth. Born in Portsmouth, RI on November 10, 1920, he was the son of the late Jose J. and Angelina Ferreira Medeiros.Mr. Medeiros was a carpenter for 64 years for Medeiros Brothers Carpenters. He also worked as a fisherman during the winter months. Mr. Medeiros loved Red Sox baseball and country-western music. Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his son John Medeiros of Middletown, RI, his daughter Carol Figerie of Portsmouth, RI, his grandchildren Cathy Kalwak, John Medeiros, Jr. and Elizabeth Medeiros all of Middletown, his great grandson Andrew Kalwak of Middletown, RI and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Joseph Medeiros, Manuel Medeiros, Celia Morris, Marion Mello and Mary Botelho. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 8, 2008, at 9:00am, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2008, from 3-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
