John J.C. Clark

MIDDLETOWN, RI - John J.C. Clark, 87, of 123 Honeyman Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of Thomasville, Georgia, died Thursday, August 11, 2005, at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Linda Mary Lima Clark. Born in Blakely, Georgia on March 27, 1918, he was the son of the late Coy Cecil and Mary Alice Wright Clark. Mr. Clark worked in the boiler plant division on the Newport Naval Base as an Electrician Mechanic for 20 years. He served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and was awarded the Purple Heart, after being wounded off the coast of France, during World War II. John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4487 Middletown, the Fleet Reserve and the All Vets Club. He is survived by his son Dr. Robert L. Clark of Pascoaq, RI, and his dearest friends William and Beverly Wordell Travis of Middletown, RI. He was the brother of the late Roy Clark, Charles Clark, Paul Clark, Edward Clark, Mary Clark and Helen Witty. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at 11:00 AM in St. Columbas Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 15, 2005, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
