John Joseph Maloney

John Joseph Maloney, 85, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Middletown, RI. He was the husband of Frances A (Comesky) Maloney. Born in Astoria, NY on November 30, 1927, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret (Harrington) Maloney. John was one of the first inductees of Long Island to serve in the U.S Army E.O.D.S. Bomb Squad 906 Ordinance Disposal Company in the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Levittown Volunteer Fire Department from 1960 to 1991 and was Captain of Engine Company Number Five for Two years. He worked at Grumman Areospace in Bethpage, NY as a Senior Subcontract Administrator of Procurement Contractors, overseeing the purchase of materials and subcontracts for the Grumman F14, lunar module (LEM), X29 Where John assisted in getting over 100 companies to contribute parts and engineering for its Development. Besides his wife he leaves his children John and wife Donna Maloney of Dover, NH, James and wife Kathie Maloney of Longwood, FL, Ann and husband Chris Bezruki of Champaign, IL, Kathleen and husband Michael Andrew of Northfield,VT. Grandchildren Jay, Kelly, James, Shawn, Michelle, Christopher Svensen, Elizabeth, Megan, Step-grandchildren Michael and Steffanie.John was pre deceased by his sisters Marie E. Ferguson and Louise E. Maloney.The family wishes to thank Visiting Nurses of Newport and Bristol County for there outstanding compassion and care of John.
