John Joseph Silvia

- John Joseph Silvia, 76, of 1 Bayview Park Middletown, formerly of 683 Aquidneck Avenue Middletown, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Margaret A. Gramolini Silvia of Middletown. Born in Middletown, RI on December 10, 1925, he was the son of the late John Anthony and Mary D Soeria Silvia.Mr. Silvia worked for Frank Flowers, Bacon McLeach and for the Sulbro Corporation as a carpenter until his retirement in 2000. He joined the K of C in 1954, then was a charter member of the Middletown K of C were he was very active and was a Past Grand Knight from 1968-1970. He was President of the Seven Castles Club, a member of the former Newport Saltwater Fishing Club and a member of the Green Valley Country Club. He was and avid golfer and loved fishing. Besides his wife he is survived by his son John A. Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Margaret S. Glenn of Knoxville, TN, and his granddaughters Janet Glenn of Knoxville, TN, Dawn Rutkowski of Fort Worth, TX, and Joy Douglas of West Palm Beach, FL. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 8:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. Donations in his memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
