Newport, - John Manchester, Sr., 58, of 66 Girard Avenue Newport, formerly of 90 Conanicus Road, Narragansett, died Monday, September 15, 2003 at Brigham And Womens Hospital Boston, MA.He was the former husband of Heidi Marie Gerhard Manchester, and Linda Tessman Laudone. Born in Fall River, MA on August 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothea Lapointe Manchester. Mr. Manchester was a roofing contractor with Manchester ONeill Roofing Company, for 23 years, retiring in 2001. He was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Manchester was an avid golfer at the Jamestown Country Club and also an avid fisherman.He is survived by his companion Christine Marquis of Middletown, RI, two sons John Manchester Jr. of Portsmouth, RI and Mark Manchester of Newport, RI, his daughter Charlotte Manchester of Charlestown, RI, two brothers Thomas D. Manchester of Middletown, RI, and Glenn Manchester of Fall River, MA, two sisters Dorothea Szpotanski of Middletown, RI, and Darlene Roderick of Newport, RI, and two grandchildren.His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2003, at 10:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
