John Oliveira

John Oliveira, 68, of 164 Furey Avenue, Tiverton, RI, formerly of Fall River, MA, died Friday, December 24, 2004, at home. He was the husband of Eileen Demoura Oliveira. Born in Fall River, MA, on September 8, 1936, he was the son of Celia Mendonca Oliveira of Fall River, MA, and the late John Oliveira Sr. Mr. Oliveira was raised in Fall River, MA. He had worked for the former Dario Ford in Pawtucket, RI, as an auto mechanic. He then went to work for New England Power Company in Somerset, MA. After ten years, he changed careers to becone a commercial fisherman and quahogger and moved to Tiverton, RI, since 1970. He was a member of the Bay State Frogman, a local scuba diving club. He was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp Reserve. Mr. Oliveira enjoyed camping and sportfishing. Besides his wife of 47 years and his mother, he is survived by four sons Mark Oliveira of Williamsport, PA, Bruce Oliveira of Red Lodge, MT, Glenn Oliveira of Rehoboth, MA, and Jeffrey Oliveira of Westport, MA, four daughters Deborah Olson of Gloucester, MA, Dawn Oliveira and Karin Medeiros both of Bristol, RI, and Melissa Fraze of Columbus, MT, 16 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton. Burial will be in Pocassett Hill Cemetery in Tiverton.
