John P. Miranda

Newport, RI - John P. Miranda, 81, formerly of 36 Depot Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. He was the former husband of Lorraine Gomes Santos. Born in Fall River, MA on June 3, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Costa Miranda. Mr. Miranda worked as a mason on the Newport Naval Base for many years. He was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church. He is survived by two sons Robert Miranda of Middletown, RI, and Thomas Miranda of Tiverton, RI, two daughters Shirley Leins of Crown Point, IN, and Dianne Jarvis of Zebulon, NC, two brothers Joseph Miranda of Berkley, MA, and David Miranda of Fairhaven, MA, his sister Jane Aguiar of Swansea, MA, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank Miranda, Antone Miranda and Mary Forand. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2003, at 8:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Rte. 114, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
