John Pagac

John J. Pagac, 77, of Middletown, RI, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Mary Lourdes Pinhiero Pagac.Born in Vershire, VT on June 24, 1934, he was the son of the late John J. and Zuszana Skandera Pagac, who emigrated to the US from Myjava, Slovakia in 1916.John grew up in Vermont and then enlisted in the US Navy. He served during the Korean War as a radar technician. He took this training to a career with Philco Ford in Newport, where he worked as a radar technician for 20 years. John then took an opportunity to work for Raytheon after retraining in sonar technology. He worked at Raytheon for another 20 years in the Submarine Signal Division.Besides his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his children, John C. Pagac of Lake Worth, FL, and Susan Pagac of Newport, RI, and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Magoon of Post Mills, Vermont.Funeral services will be private.Donations in his memory may be made to the ALS Association, Rhode Island Chapter2915 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02886-3117.
