John Rae Sullivan

John Rae Sullivan Middletown, RI - John Rae Sullivan, 86, of the John Clarke Nursing Center, Middletown, formerly of 55 Miantonomi Avenue, Middletown, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the John Clarke Nursing Center, Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Barbara Crane Sullivan. Born in Newport, RI on May 28, 1918, he was the son of the late John Henry and Hattie Rae Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan worked for the New England Telephone Company as an installer for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Georges Church, where he served on the vestry. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Newport County Band, playing the clarinet. John was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son John Justin Sullivan of Worcester, MA, a daughter Paula Crane Stebbins of Middletown, RI, and five grandchildren.He was the father of the late William Rae Sullivan, brother of the late Paul Joseph Sullivan, and grandfather of the late Kathleen Langley Sullivan. His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at 12:00PM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Marys Churchyard, East Main Road, Portsmouth.
