Newport, RI - John Seliga, 60, of Newport, died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at his home.Born in Newport, RI on April 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Mary Magdalin (Goodheart) Seliga.John worked for his family company JMS Fence Company before starting his own company Beautiful Boundaries. He was a huge rock n roll fan and was a talented drummer. He had a passion for the ocean and scuba diving as well as hot rods among other things. He was a kind soul who wanted to help the world. He is survived by his daughters April Rios and her husband Jose of Newport, RI, Christy Watkinson of Bristol, RI, and his son Russell John Seliga Croteau of Providence, RI, his brothers, Joseph Seliga of Chesapeake Beach, MD and James V. Johnson, his sisters, Kathleen Brown of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Susan Seliga of Warwick, RI, and four grandchildren, Jayda and Jose Rios Jr. of Newport, RI and Wyatt and Sage. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a service to follow at 7pm.Burial will take place on Friday, January 9, 2015, at 2pm in St. Marys Episcopal Churchyard, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI with a reception to follow.
