John Silva Medeiros

Middletown, - John Silva Medeiros, 91, of 31 Rosedale Terrace, Middletown, formerly of 70 Gibbs Avenue, Newport, died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI.He was the husband of Angela N. Diogo Medeiros.Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, on April 15, 1913, he was the son of the late Manuel and Catarina Silva Medeiros. Mr. Medeiros had worked as a cement mason for the Plasterers and Cement Mason Union, Local #40, for 50 years, retiring in 1975. Mr. Medeiros moved to the Carribean and then to Aquidneck Island leaving Sao Miguel, Azores, in 1938. He was a Communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. Mr. Medeiros enjoyed fishing. Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Emily Silvia of Middletown, RI, Elsie Medeiros of Seekonk, MA, Anna Ventura of Middletown, RI, and Claudette Medeiros of Portsmouth, RI, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Agostinho Medeiros, Miguel Medeiros, Jose Medeiros, Maria Lopes, and Adelina Medeiros.His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown?s Lane, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, 1 St. Jude Place, P.O.
