Middletown, RI - John T. Pearson Jr., 93, of 203 Tuckerman Ave, Middletown, RI, formerly of Syracuse, New York, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Dorothy McVene Pearson. Born in Stamford, CT on March 29, 1916, he was the son of the late John T. and Elizabeth Magdalena Bozung Pearson.John was a resident of Syracuse, NY for most of his life. Professionally, he was a skilled toolmaker and manager of the tool and die department of Crouse-Hinds Co in Syracuse for over 45 years. He and his wife spent many summers in their retirement years at their cottage on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. They spent many loving hours there with each other, and happy times there with their children and grandchildren. John had a passion for reading and self education and shared with his son a life long affection for steam trains and railroading. In his retirement, he was an avid train modeler. He is survived by a son, John T. Pearson III of Middletown, RI , a daughter, Anne E. Seereiter of Fayetteville, NY, and four grandchildren, Brooke Pearson and her husband John Crowley, Robin Pearson, Michael Seeceiter, and Christopher Seereiter. His funeral will be held on Monday, January 25, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be at a later date in St. Marys Cemetery in DeWitt, New York.Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 24 from 3:00-6:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 in Memory of Dorothy G.
