Jose E. Colon

NEWPORT, - Jose E. Colon, 59, of 7J Bayside Village Newport, died Monday, December 9, 2002 at Veterans Hospital Providence, RI. Born in Puerto Rico, on November 3, 1943, he was the son of the late Jose N. and Maria P. Colon Colon.Mr. Colon was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Colon worked as a commercial fisherman on vairous boats in the Newport and New York Area for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed playing chess, working on cars, landscaping and playing darts. He is survived by his fiance Esther Ruiz of Middletown, RI, fives brothers Raymond L. Colon of Middletown, RI, and Carlos E. Colon both of Middletown, RI, Joseph V. Colon of Woodbridge, WV, Louis Colon of Newport, RI, and Efraim Colon of Fairfax, VA, two sisters Iris M. Erausquin and Ruth Colon both of Middletown, RI, many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. His funeral service and burial will be private. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
