Jose M. Mozes

Portsmouth, RI - Jose M. Mozes, 33, of Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, September 19, 2008 in an automobile accident. He was the husband of Marta Soares Mozes. Born in Portugal on December 28, 1974, he was the son of Carmindo Lima Mozes and Maria Mozes.Jose was born in Portugal and moved with his family to Venezuela as a young child. His family returned to Portugal when he was 14 and he lived there until he was 26. Jose then moved to the US and began work right away. Shortly after Sept 11, 2001 he met Marta Soares in Boston while she was visiting her family. They met through a mutual friend, and felt an immediate connection, and both changed their plans right away to remain in New England, and with each other. They married 6 months later and dedicated their life to raising a young family together. In the short six years of their marriage, they built a loving family and wonderful life together, as well a successful business. He worked as a painter and carpenter with his business partner in Straight Edge Painting, Inc. for the last six years. In his free time he loved the outdoors, and enjoyed snowboarding, tennis, spearfishing, and dancing. Jose was a caring and thoughtful man, always ready to lend a hand, always helpful and truly dependable. He is survived by his wife Marta Mozes of Portsmouth, RI, and their son Thomas and infant daughter Julia, his parents Carmindo Lima Mozes and Maria Mozes of Bristol, RI, and one brother Pedro Mozes and his wife Ana Mozes of Portugal, and their son Andre Mozes. He leaves many more family and friends. His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 9:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, from 5:00-8:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
