Newport, RI - Jose Raposa Aleicho, Jr., 75, of 10 Brooks Avenue, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Newport Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dora Conchetta Pirie Aleicho to whom he would have been married for 50 years this November. Born in Newport, RI on May 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Cardoza Aleicho.Mr. Aleicho was in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as Staff Sargent. He worked for the Newport Housing Authority until his retirement in 1998 and also drove part time for Cozy Cab of Newport. Mr. Aleicho was a life member of the VFW, a member of the Air Force Sargents Association, and a former member of the Newport Lodge of Elks, BPOE. He was a communicant of St. Josephs Church. Mr. Aleicho was an avid saltwater fisherman and a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and a great lover of animals. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Anthony J. Aleicho of Middletown, RI, Alan Aleicho, Adam Aleicho and Angela Hurney of Newport, RI, and Andrew Aleicho of Portsmouth, RI, his brother John Aleicho of Portsmouth, RI, his sisters Mary Rose Brookshire of Portsmouth, RI, and Avie Maxwell and Madeline Baker both of Middletown, RI, and his grandchildren Tiffany and Matthew Blythe, Patrick and Stephanie Hurney, Erin, Andrew and Lauren Aleicho and Alexandra Aleicho. He was the father of the late Ann-Marie Blythe, and the brother of the late Delores V. Ferreira. His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial with Military Honors and a 21 gun salute will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
