Josefina Cercena

MIDDLETOWN, RI - Josefina Cercena, 66, of 57 Oak Street, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Antonio A. Cercena of Middletown, a Retired Navy Senior Chief. Born in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Philippines, on December 16, 1938, she was the daughter of Inocencia Viloria Calub of Manilla, Philippines and the late Felipe Calub. Mrs. Cercena was an Accounting Coordinator for BankNewport for 23 years, retiring on March 31, 2005. She was a member of the Filipino American Association, A.A.R.P., and the American Bankers Association. Mrs. Cercena was very active in fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Mr. Mrs. Cercena have been friends since the 1st grade. Besides her loving husband and mother she is survived by her brothers Alfredo Calub of Manilla, Philippines, Rolando Calub of Beguio City, Philippines and Edgardo Calub of Manilla, Philippines. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed with a funeral service at 9:00AM, in the Chapel Of Hope, Naval Station, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22, 2005, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the funeral home.
