Newport, - Joseph Antone, 85, of 5 Bradford Avenue Newport, died Sunday, December 15, 2002 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of Mary Lou Gonsalves Antone of Newport. Born in Newport, RI on January 23, 1917, he was the son of the late Martin and Josephine Monteiro Antone.Mr. Antone was in the United States Army during World War II serving in France and North Africa. He worked during the depression for the ?Conservation Corps.? Mr. Antone was a former member of the Beaver AC and a member and past treasurer of the Cape Verdean Club of Newport. He worked for the local laborers union then for the Public Works Department on the Newport Navy Base. Besides his wife of 49 years he is survived by two sons Joseph Antone Jr. and James Antone both of Newport, RI, four daughters Cynthia Oliveira of Pawtucket, RI, Brenda Boyd of Middletown, RI, Cathleen Fontes and Susan Antone both of Newport, RI, three brothers Albert Antone of Middletown, RI, Manuel Antone of Lawton, OK, and Martin Antone of Newport, RI, two sisters Marie Hines of Middletown, RI, and Josephine Fields of Newport, RI, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late John Antone and Francis Antone. His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2002, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM, in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport.
