Portsmouth, RI - Joseph Bernard Silvia, 52, of 2560 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI Born in Newport, RI on February 10, 1957, he was the son of Herbert M. Silvia of Portsmouth, RI and the late Marion Pappas Silvia.Mr. Silvia worked as a security guard for many years for Newport Restoration Foundation. He was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. Joe enjoyed collecting hot wheels and flying remote control helicopters. Besides his father, he is survived by his sons, Jacob Joseph Silvia of England and Alexander Andrus Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Herbert M. Silvia, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI and his grandson Jacob William Silvia of England.He was the father of the late Andrew Warren Silvia. His funeral will be private.Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009, from 6-8, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
