Joseph Corey

Portsmouth, RI - Joseph E. Corey, Jr., 42, of 838 Wapping Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at home. Born in Newport, RI on December 22, 1964, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Evelyn G. Rodrigues Corey. A graduated of Portsmouth High School, Joe worked on the Corey Farm Wapping Road, owned and operated by his late father and grandfather. As a young boy of 9 years he drove and operated all types of farm equipment. His confidence deepened and his desire to work on, acquire and drive high speed cars, trucks and motorcycles never wavered. He loved going to and watching the ?Drags?, the 50?s, 60?s, and 70?s muscle cars, with special pride for his Ford Mustangs. He enjoyed collecting trains and listening to country music. Joseph is survived by his maternal grandmother Georgianna Silvia Rodrigues of Middletown, his uncles and aunts Georgianna and Clarence Rego, Linda Johnson, Arleen and Charles Kaull all of Middletown, Domingos J. and Deborah Rodrigues of Exeter, RI, Patricia and Raymond LeBeau of Middletown, Susan and Robert Randall of Portsmouth, David Rodrigues and Paul Rodrigues both of Middletown, his great aunts Louise Perry, Agnes Pimentel, Madeline Perry, Alice Haas and Helen Perry all of Middletown, RI.Joseph was also the grandson of the late Domingos J. Rodrigues, Jr. and Edward J. and Margaret Silveira Corey. His funeral will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007, at 8:30am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Barnabas Church 1697 East Main Road Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007, from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
