Joseph J. Ferreira, Sr

Middletown, RI - Joseph J. Ferreira Sr., 74, of 148 Newport Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Newport Hospital.He was the husband of the late Frances M. Watson Ferreira.Born in Middletown on March 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Manuel R. and Mary Vidinha Ferreira.Mr. Ferreira had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Rhode Island DOT for 31 years. He had also worked as a custodian for New England Telephone until 1997 and Mello Construction until the time of his passing. Mr. Ferreira was an avid gardener and landscaper. He leaves his children Joseph J. Ferreira, Jr. of Providence, RI, and Jamie Ann Meeks as well as his grandsons Craig Meeks and Kyle Meeks all of Middletown. Joe was the brother of John J. Ferreira and Alice M.
